The Science of Warming: The Physiology and Physics of Forced-air Warming

In this module, normothermia expert Prof. Bräuer will guide you through the following learning objectives:

1. Understand how forced-air warmers change the heat balance of the patient in the operating room.
2. Describe how actively warming the patient before induction of anaesthesia, can minimise redistribution temperature drop.
3. Explain the physics between the warming unit and the blanket heat exchange system.
4. Articulate the physics of the heat exchange between the warming blanket and patient.
