The health system wanted to supplement its own initiatives around OR infection prevention with outside expertise to support continuous improvement.

Solution:

A 3M on-site review of OR practices at two tertiary care hospitals in the system resulted in process, staffing and equipment recommendations that, when implemented have helped the health system:

• Continue to reduce infection rates
• Increase surgeon satisfaction
• Improve OR workflow
