Meet the Experts Series — Part 4: SSI Bundle Surveillance
The importance and compliance of basic infection preventative measures are often overlooked. Perioperative interventions such as patient decolonization, anesthesia work area hand hygiene, vascular care and environmental cleaning, when bundled, demonstrate a reduction in S. aureus transmission and Surgical Site Infections (SSI). This webinar reviews a current evidence-based intraoperative infection control program aimed to reduce microorganism transmission and SSI.
Dr. Randy Loftus
Dr. Loftus has received national and international recognition for his expertise regarding the epidemiology of intraoperative bacterial transmission. In the last 10 years he has made great contributions to science as is reflected in a solid body of published evidence. He has applied this work to improve patient outcomes in the OR and ICU. He believes that if hospitals are empowered to continually understand the epidemiology of transmission of dangerous bacteria in a given environment, then proactive steps can be taken to mitigate that transmission.
