3M School of Purification is Back

Following the highly rated series of educational webinars that have explored a range of biopharmaceutical separation and purification topics since launching the program in 2022, the 3M School of Purification is back by popular demand in 2024. We will be kicking off our 2024 program with “The Salmon Solution: Fostering the Upstream to Give Life to the Downstream”.

    Abstract

As salmon swim upstream to lay the foundations for the next generation, the bioprocess starts in the same place. As soon as our molecule of interest is ready to be harvested, the importance of the first stages of filtration, separation and purification are best fostered as soon as possible, deploying the right solutions to achieve the best results. Whether this is through improved yield, host cell DNA and host cell protein removal or process simplification, achieving this during clarification results in further improvements downstream.

In this seminar we will specifically cover:

A deep dive into upstream bioprocessing. Starting with the foundations of classical depth filtration, followed by more advanced technologies in chromatographic clarification demonstrating how these methods enable a more efficient capture chromatography and viral inactivation.

We will feature two partner case studies with Ambrx Inc. and Gilead, in both an antibody and non-antibody process.

We will compare traditional multi-stage depth filtration against single-stage chromatographic solutions using the 3M™ Harvest RC Chromatographic Clarifier platform, with a cost of goods analysis, ultimately showing process intensification and yield improvement delivered to our customers.
