    This year’s 3M pre-conference mini boot camps are designed to enhance your skills in clinical documentation integrity (CDI), coding and quality and will take place May 21-22, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, prior to the start of 3M CES. There will be four, concurrent mini boot camps to choose from. Each is pre-qualified for 10 AHIMA continuing education units (CEUs).

    *Note: Please note that these mini boot camps are separate from 3M CES and are available at an additional cost. You’ll need to arrive in Atlanta a day earlier to attend, so please plan your travel accordingly.


    Select the session that best fits your needs:

    • Advanced quality training – This course will dive into key value-based purchasing initiatives and discuss how CDI, coding and quality efforts can help or hinder an accurate reflection of the quality of care. Topics to be covered include, patient safety indicators (PSIs), complication or comorbidity (CC) and major complication or comorbidity (MCC), hierarchical condition categories (HCCs), social determinants of health (SDoH), present on admission (POA) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) readmissions.
    • Advanced CDI training – This course addresses knowledge gaps and fundamental CDI skills, and will explore the clinical and coding concepts behind key major diagnostic categories (MDSCs). Learn how to help your team adapt to new technology, monitor program performance, build coding and CDI competencies and improve mid-revenue cycle business processes.
    • Advanced CDI pediatrics training - This course offers a comprehensive approach to address fundamental CDI skills focusing on pediatrics. Topics covered include Medicare Severity (MS), case mix index (CMI),3M™ All Patient Refined DRGs (APR DRGs), coding guidelines and key major diagnostic categories (MDCs). This training can prepare your CDI team to recognize the unique problems and challenges in a pediatric population, leading to more accurate documentation.
    • Advanced outpatient CDI training - This course will provide you with opportunities for outpatient CDI success as you explore frequent coding and documentation challenges across various settings, the impact of quality within outpatient services, and medical necessity criteria as it ensures compliant practices. Additional topics to be covered include an analysis of outpatient CDI key concepts, CMS HCC methodology, query best practice and physician engagement recommendations.

    • Who is this for?

      These trainings are for seasoned CDI, coding, quality professionals and multidisciplinary CDI teams looking to take their programs to the next level.


      How much does this cost?

      The cost is $800 per attendee and does not include travel or lodging. If you purchase three or more seats you will receive a discounted rate per attendee.

      Note: Snacks will be provided during the 3M pre-conference mini boot camps on Sunday, May 21 (you will be responsible for your meals on Sunday) and lunch and light snacks will be provided on Monday, May 22.
