In the MedTech industry you rightly demand precision, reliability and safety at every stage of development and manufacturing. High purity 3M™ Novec™ Engineered Fluids have no flash point, so they offer a safe and reliable solution for a range of medical applications. They also have low toxicity and a favourable environmental profile, with a short atmospheric lifetime, and are inherently non-ozone depleting.

High performing dielectric heat transfer fluids are ideal for liquid cooling applications, including clinical diagnostics, lyophilization (freeze drying) and cold storage, as they have low viscosity, enabling a good flow at temperatures down to -138°C. They offer a broader operating range and lower flow channels than aqueous or oil-based cooling systems. Furthermore, Novec is easily detectable which is important for quality assurance, for example to find fluid leaks in a process vessel.

Versatile 3M Novec liquids can also be used as a precision cleaning agent for medical devices. The fluid easily penetrates tight spaces on complex parts due to a combination of low surface tension and low viscosity and removes all traces of dirt, grease and contaminants, without leaving any residue. Unlike aqueous solutions, fast-drying 3M Novec fluids don't support biological growth and are less equipment and energy-intensive.

Rudi Van San, EMEA Application Engineer for Novec fluids at 3M is the co-presenter of the webinar. Rudi has a degree in chemical engineering, and he has 30 years of experience with 3M Electronics, focusing on Novec fluids.
