shown to be present in the deeper layers of the skin (down to 1000 microns) where hair follicles exist. 2
Chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), in skin preps, demonstrates poor permeation at deeper skin depths. Below a depth of 300 microns, CHG concentration may not be effective for killing bacteria. 3
